As well what is above are some more bead strings to replenish what has been sold at fairs.

I have another order ready to place once this is on it way to me.  Charms ready for halloween and christmas plus some other bits.

If there is anything you would like to see stocked on Vickie’s Emporium just drop me a line and I will see what I can do.

Frit do you love frit as much as me??  Well I have a sale on frit at the moment up to 50% on blends pop on over and have a look some blends will be hard to come buy until I can get the glass in or a similar colour as some of the glass is hard to get at the moment.   Sale ends on the 9th of June at midnight.

I have been making lampwork studs 🙂 DSCF0169 DSCF0173 DSCF0177

I have loved making these and have other colours and frit type studs in mind to make. 🙂  If anyone is interested they will soon be listing on my wowthankyou shop long with some other lampwork jewellery I will be making.

Hmmm lampwork studs… you are thinking what are they??  Basically they are surgical steel posts that you lampwork onto ( wind molten glass on the ends) and form into the shape you would like then anneal as you would any other bead. Voila studs no gluing whatever.

This is how they start off as 10stueck_web

To hopefully something like this.. these below are practise ones I did to see if I could do them or not.  I was pretty impressed to be honest LOL.

Well thats all I have to say at the moment… but don’t forget to let me know if there is anything you would like to see stocked on the website 🙂

Well not blogged for an age so here goes.

Welcome to my blog.

I am now known as Vickie’s Emporium

Well this website is now 6 months old woahhh that has gone quick.  If you are new to this site I will explain a little.

Vickiesbeads was my beads and findings site

Beads4breakfast was my lampwork beads site

Frit addiction was my 104coe frit site.

Now that meant 3 log ins, 3 pages, 3 emails to keep track of :/ got very confusing at times.  Eventually after time I had customers that like to order from more than one of the sites and then had to take time to inbox me to combine postage, which meant waiting til I got the email to sort it out and then emailing them back. Or they carried on with their purchase to which once packed I had to refund the excess postage paid.

So to make it easier all the sites got combined and put under one roof and it is so much easier 🙂

Well I am in the middle of sorting out a custom services for the frit side of the business :). If like me you are a lampworker who never throws their ends away then the service is here to get them fritted for your needs no waste then. I usually use my ends to make stringers but you always seem to get a lot of ends don’t you.

All you have to do is make sure labels are taken off and if you want the colours separate then you need to sort them into their own bags/containers and then send them onto me. This service is not just for 104 glass its for any coe… but you will have to make sure your coes are separate unless you want to mix them?   The details will be up for you to read I am just waiting on my cutting bits to come which can take up to 2 weeks.

I am also in the middle of sorting out for you to order your own custom blends too just need to do a bit of a stock take 😉

I am also making some more lampwork beads to list soon I am hoping they are different to what you usually see.

Website now live.

Yes http://www.frit-addiction.co.uk is now live and stocked with some of the blends I have.  I have some blends being tested and hoping to get some results later on today if they are ok then I will be listing them too.

I have or hoping to do 10g sample bags, 30g and 50g bags for all blends.  I did consider doing jars too but with the postal rates they way they are I thought it was better to do bags cheaper for us all and you can get more per envelope.  There are 2 different size frits size 1 which is approx 0.05mm – 2mm and size 0 which is up to 0.05mm approx size.  There will also be powders for sale too that is left from fritting the glass. I am having the powder tested at the moment to see if it will be ok to use also a friend who enamels is testing it too.   So watch this space 😉

I will be hoping to do single colours too as well as blends. If you have any ideas for blends let me know and I will see what I can do.

Announcement of new Venture yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

FRIT ADDICTION

Frit Addiction is the name of my new venture, plenty of frit to feed lampworkers addictions.

I absolutely love frit! I have pots and pots of the stuff and I am sure many lampworkers do too.  The problem I find with the frit I have is it’s all Coe 96.

If you’re not a lampworker/glass worker I can hear you say what is COE ?? Full word is Coefficient of Expansion

Basically it means different glass, like Effetre, CiM, Borosilicate, Reichenbach etc all have different hardness/softness and expand in different ways when heated.  If you mix different COE you can end up with cracks or broken pieces this is because the COE of the different glasses are not compatible.

So that means most of us lampworkers that use a lot of 104 glass have to follow a 5% rule when using the COE 96 frit. (5% frit to the size piece you are making) I have found with some frit I would love to pile it on but sadly do not want my bead or focal cracking.

So I have decided to specialize and make my own frit and blends with 104 COE.  I have heard people say that the colours of 104 frit are insipid and you can’t get the colour vibrance of the 96 COE frit.  Depending on what colours and blends are used, that can be true but that’s because some people are still following the 5% rule. If you are using effetre, CiM and some 104 reichenbach you do not need to follow the 5% rule just pile it on and have some fun and see what you can do with it.  As this glass is 104 Coe there is no incompatibility so you will not get any cracks as if you were using the 96 coe frit or any other coe you may have.

I am still waiting on my website to be sorted so I can start doing my own touches to it, so in the meantime have opened an etsy shop.

My Etsy shop Frit addiction

I will be listing some more frit in the week as I am waiting on more supplies.

I didn’t just think ooo I will make some frit and then sell it. I have had 8 testers all with different techniques and experience using the frit and showing their results you will be able to see them on my facebook page.

Facebook page Frit addiction

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my testers in no particular order.
